One of the things I love about disc golf is that it’s one of the few sports I’ve seen where the competitors actually root for each other. I want you to make your 30 foot putt. I want you to drive it in the fairway. I’m super excited for you when you hit an ace.
I want all of those good things for you because I want to be pushed. I don’t want to win because you screwed up. That’s a lot different than most other sports. That’s a lot different than life in general.
In most things in life, everyone else is just waiting for you to screw up. They are hoping against hope that you won’t come through with your best. They are more worried about you making them look bad than trying to make themselves look good.
It’s for that reason that most of us need to push ourselves. It’s up to you to not hit the snooze button every morning. It’s up to you to throw in those extra practice putts when no one is looking. It’s up to you to use that gym membership you bought to start out the year. It’s up to you to get to work early and to stay late when you are trying to get ahead.
Remember, almost anything you want in disc golf and in life are there for you if you really want them. Push yourself every day, you’ll be surprised at what you can accomplish on your own!
