If your distance shots are going where you aim them every time, that's a good start. If not, I would spend all of your time on accuracy first. two 250 foot shots and a putt will get you a par on 500 foot holes and shorter. That's good enough to compete at many levels.

After that, I'd look at the driving video Will Shusterick put together on the stand still drive. The techniques described in that video will give you good distance with little to no need for physical strength or even a lot of quickness. It's all about being smooth with good form.

Three suggestions for you...

The Heavy Disc blog.
The form critique section on DGCR.
Submitting a video to the Disc Golf Answer Man Facebook group.

I would also pick one pro, just one, that you think has a form you'd like to emulate. Start recording yourself throwing and comparing your form to theirs. Then one thing at a time try to bring your throw closer to theirs. Just focus on one behavior at a time.

I also cannot recommend highly enough the driving video by Will Shusterick. Just type that in to You Tube and it should be the first one that comes up. It's the one where he teaches the stand still drive. You could do a ton with just that video alone.

Hope that helps!

I just started reading your articles, I love them, I'm 70 and starting playing about 6 months ago. my putting is getting fair (make most within 20 feet). I need to get better at mid distance (soccer field here I come). My problem is my distance shots are 225 to 250 and my mid distance shots are 150 to 200. I believe that my problem is are speed but I don't know how to increase them. I have tried lighter disc and that helped a little. any help would be appreciated.
thank you

Thanks for the comment Jason. You have a great plan. The net really allows you to just work on form without having to chase discs or ending up playing instead! I'd love to hear how it works out for you over the next few months!
