Thanks Robin!

I agree, I think way too many people are way to lax about their upshots. I'll take a drop in putt over a nail biter on every hole please!

Excellent piece. Especially important on a tougher course where par is a good score. The player who gets the most easy par putts will beat even a better putter who has to stress out over 25 footers. In that sense, I hate it when people try to make us feel good about a crappy approach shot by saying 'That'll putt'. The goal is to MAKE an easy putt, not 'get' a tough putt. Thanks for the good work.

In reply to <a href="https://mindbodydisc.com/disc-golf-tips-approach-guidelines/#comment-931">Phil Avants</a>.

Great observation Phil. I would take it even one step further that if you are playing a hole that is 250'-275' or shorter, your tee shot is kind of your second shot. That distance and closer seems to be the magic number for getting in in 2. Thanks for the comment and for following the blog!

It's all about the second shot. You could botch your drive and still get up and down will a well executed upshot or put inside the circle on your drive and have a putt for a birdie. In either scenario, the second shot determines the outcome. It's all about the second shot. Great article!!
